Students were surprised at how relaxed and close-knit the Greenpoint team was as they toured this Marysville-based manufacturing facility that builds interiors for private and VIP jets. Longtime Greenpoint staffer Mike Pearson gave us a tour of the facility, explaining not only what the factory did but how the team worked to support each other that is very different from other facilities. While many factories produce a single machine/tools/part/hardware that requires repetitive motion and very limited variety in the work day, Greenpoint prides itself in training its staff in all aspects of the interiors manufacturing process so that the days never get boring or monotonous and the entire team shares responsibility and oversight of each other. They also emphasized to the students that you do not have to get a college education before joining their team. They fully train new employees in every task involved in production as they work their way up from apprentice to senior staff. Students who felt intimidated by the possibility of working in a massive factory like Boeing were relieved to see a smaller operation with a more relaxed setting.
